Beginning in 2014, Pharrell Williams and adidas teamed up to produce an evolving line of sneakers. The Human Race collection, which dropped in 2016, was created to commemorate the human race, and the designs featured Primeknit uppers, white Boost midsoles and a new lacing system. NMD, short for Nomad, is a casual sneaker that combines past design concepts with new technology. 

This rendition of the Human Race collection was released in 2018 at outdoor music festival, Shaggfest, held in Pharrell’s hometown of Virginia Beach. The white knit upper features mismatched "N.E.R.D" embroidered lettering in blue and red down the vamp. Additionally, the design includes blue TPU caging and sockliner, with a red heel tab featuring N.E.R.D brain branding. The pair is finished with matching neon green laces and outsole.
